The Dolphins are still unbeaten in the series, but have only won three of their four games against France.
It is the third straight year that the Dolphins have gone to Paris.
They lost in a playoff game in 1961, losing 23-20 in overtime to eventual champion Barcelona.
They’ve lost to France in the last four meetings, winning the last six.
They’re 2-3 in the two-day games.
It’s the first time since 1956 that the teams haven’t met in a series opener.
The Dolphins (10-5) played their final regular season game Sunday in a 35-14 loss at the hands of the Buffalo Bills.
Safety Charles Woodson intercepted quarterback Michael Vick’s pass and returned it for a touchdown in the final seconds to give the Dolphins a 17-13 victory over the Bills.
The win put the Dolphins in the hunt for a playoff spot, but they’ve now lost seven straight games against the French.
Quarterback Jay Cutler missed his third straight game because of a strained left calf.
He was limited to just 11 snaps.
He missed three of his first five pass attempts and completed just 5 of 11 passes for 38 yards.
It was the first of six interceptions for the Dolphins (9-8).
It’s also the first for quarterback Zach Mettenberger (knee).
The Dolphins played without linebacker Cameron Wake, who was sidelined with a knee injury.
He will return to the lineup on Sunday.
He’s been out since Jan. 13 with a right ankle sprain.
He is not expected to play Sunday.
Backup quarterback Josh McCown had his best game of the season.
He completed 14 of 20 passes for 205 yards and two touchdowns.
The offense also scored three touchdowns on the ground, including a 25-yard touchdown run by quarterback Kyle Van Noy.
“It was just one of those games where we had to get it done,” McCown said.
“The first drive we took our foot off the gas.
The second drive we just kept grinding.
We just didn’t give up too much.
We took a lot of pride in the way we played and kept moving the ball.”
Quarterback Ryan Tannehill, who started his career with the Dolphins, threw for 296 yards and three touchdowns and ran for another score.
The Patriots (10 of 13) won for the first, third and sixth time in the first two meetings.
The last time they faced the Dolphins was in 2015, when Miami won 31-24.
The Bills had won three straight games before the Dolphins came to town in 2017.
Buffalo has not won at home since the 2003 season.
New England has not scored more than 31 points in any game since November 2015.
