Police say a man who allegedly tried to steal a police car from a patrol car was arrested Wednesday after a brief chase.
Baltimore Sun reporter Ryan D. Smith reports that police say a 21-year-old man from the West Baltimore neighborhood of Woodlawn was arrested at a gas station shortly after midnight after a short pursuit.
Police say a detective spotted the suspect, identified as William J. Davis, walking along the street and stopped him near a gas stop at about 11:30 p.m.
The suspect, who was wearing a black hoodie, was handcuffed.
The detective noticed Davis had a handgun and pointed it at the officer, who then took him into custody.
The driver of the stolen car was not injured and has been identified as 32-year, former police officer William “Mike” Bohn.
