The Bible is a book of revelation to man.
But how God is described in the Bible has changed in the centuries since it was written.
We can look to the Old Testament, which is considered the earliest Christian text, and look at the New Testament, from the early years of the Christian era, and see how God has been portrayed through the ages.
Here are some of the most significant changes: • In the Old Covenant days, God was described as “a great God,” “a mighty God,” and “the Lord of hosts.”• “Hail, God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.”• God had a son named Abraham.• God gave Abraham a place on the throne of heaven.• Abraham was a good father.• Isaac and Jacob were good husbands.• The Israelites were good citizens.• After the death of Abraham and his wife, God gave Moses the Ten Commandments.• Moses and Aaron were prophets.• Noah became the first man to walk on the ark.• At the end of the day, God returned to Earth to “rehabilitate the land.”• Noah’s son, Enoch, was the second man to go down into the arks.• Enoch had the ability to speak in tongues.• Eve and Adam were the first humans to have sexual relations.• Satan appeared to Eve and was her husband.• Adam’s wife was Satan.• Joseph Smith was born to Joseph and Sarah.• Brigham Young became the founder of the Mormon Church.• President John Taylor became the president of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.• Thomas Jefferson became the U.S. president.• Ulysses S. Grant became the 19th president of United States.• Lyndon Johnson became the 46th president.
