People have been selling solar panels online since 2009, but only now are they starting to be able to buy the articles in print, thanks to a new law signed by California Gov.
According to the California Department of Finance, people can now buy sun magazine articles in their preferred online retailers.
They can do so for about $2.49 per article.
Newsom said the law will be used to help solar companies sell more solar energy, reduce dependence on fossil fuels, and provide incentives for electric vehicles.
The law is modeled after a similar bill that passed the California Legislature in 2012 and passed the U.S. House of Representatives in 2014.
The new law will allow people to purchase sun magazine on the state’s online portal and at participating retailers.
Newso said the company is hoping that the law can lead to greater transparency in the solar industry.
“This is about helping California businesses and the state government to keep their customers informed,” Newsom wrote in an email to the Associated Press.
Newsom said he signed the bill because he believes the online sale of solar energy is “critical to the state of California.”
He added, “The solar industry is in a big rush to find the right business model to help consumers get their energy needs met, but we’re seeing more and more barriers erected that make it difficult for solar to succeed.”
